Hands-on activities like these encourage discovery and active play. Try these simple ideas to make your family’s St. Patrick’s Day that much more magical!
Set up a scavenger hunt around your home or yard with clues that lead to some delicious treats (like chocolate coins). Who knows—your child might just find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Be sure to create clues with your child’s age in mind, using colors, numbers and sounds to inspire a memorable hunt!
Dive into a box of Lucky Charms cereal and have little ones sort the marshmallows by color. See who can organize their Lucky Charms the fastest!
Fill a plastic tub with green items: beads, dry spinach pasta, paper cutouts, etc., and let your children enjoy an emerald-inspired adventure. Ask them to describe how different items feel to the touch. Is it soft? Is it smooth? Ask questions to encourage their sensory exploration!
Grab a shoe box and decorate a dazzling “trap” to catch a lucky leprechaun! The shinier, the better to catch the leprechaun’s attention. Be sure to include bait (Lucky Charms cereal, a cutout shamrock, gold coins, etc.).
